Design Process: Chapter 3

For this exercise, I used visual hierarchy, forms, and shapes which I read about in Chapter 3 in Introduction to Graphic Design: A Guide to Thinking, Process, and Style. Author: Aaris Sherin. I began the process of putting together a design that would convey the idea of comfort, community, and safety.

My process began with a storyboard, followed by a zoom call with Andrea Caccuro, marketing, and customer service manager, where I shared ideas and scheduled a photoshoot.

After the photo shoot, I created multiple designs in order to work out my ideas. After about a week I sat down and thought, how could I stand out from the crowd? What makes my art different? How can I be true to myself as a creative? Then it hit me. Be true to thine own self - William Shakespeare. So I did. I created a pattern using the company icons and lowered its opacity by 15% then created a 6-grid Instagram campaign with the idea to create a story.

I wanted to convey a feeling of community, connection, and simplicity, in a stress-free environment.
